Water Supply: Ensuring reliable and safe water supply to urban and rural communities.

Infrastructure Development: Constructing and maintaining water infrastructure to improve accessibility and quality.

Environmental Protection: Implementing measures to safeguard water bodies and ecosystems.

Functions

  • Policy formulation and Regulation of the activities of its Agencies.
  • Ensure increased level and sustainable access to safe water supply and sanitation services.
  • Institutional reforms and capacity building in the water and sanitation sector.
  • Provision of adequate data for planning purposes, improved environment, sanitation, and hygiene services.
  • Developing and maintaining water infrastructure including dams, reservoirs, and treatment plants.
  • Regulating water usage and promoting conservation efforts.
  • Conducting research and monitoring to assess water quality and quantity.
  • Providing technical assistance and capacity building to stakeholders in the water sector.
